Biography:
Matthäus Gundelach, also known as Gondolach or Gundlach, was a German painter and graphic artist born in 1566 in Großalmerode, Germany. He was active at the court of Emperor Rudolf II in Prague from 1609 to 1612, where he worked as a chamber painter. After Rudolf's death, Gundelach worked for the Fürstenberg family in Bohemia and created several works in their territories, including two paintings in the baroque high altar of the Kapuzinerkloster St. Christophorus in Haslach im Schwarzwald. In 1617, he became a member of the painters' guild in Augsburg, where he died in 1653.
