Biography:

Mieczysław Szczuka was a Polish avant-garde artist and mountaineer, born in Warsaw, Poland in 1898. He studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw from 1915 to 1918 under Professor Miłosz Kotarbiński. After graduation, Szczuka worked as a painter and graphic artist, with his main focus on book illustration and theatre set design. He also produced photomontages and abstract art films.

Artistic Career

Szczuka's artistic career was marked by his participation in several international exhibitions, including the "First exhibition of modern art" in Bucharest. He was a promoter of utilitarianism in Poland and joined the group of avant-garde artists "Blok".
