Biography:

Napoleon Illakowicz, also known as Napoleon Michał Iłłakowicz, was a Polish painter and decorator. He was born in Vilnius, Poland in 1811 and died in Vilnius in 1861. He studied painting at the Vilnius University in Jan Rustem's art workshops and took part in the November Uprising. After the uprising, he emigrated to France and continued his studies. He also studied in Zaragoza and worked in various countries including London, Italy, and Spain. He returned to Poland in 1848 and lived in Lwów and Vilnius until his death.
