Biography:

O.W. "Pappy" Kitchens was a self-taught Mississippi artist known for his allegorical work, particularly 'The Saga of Red Eye the Rooster'. This fable consists of sixty panels, each measuring fifteen inches square, composed of mixed materials on paper, and executed in three groups of twenty. Kitchens' most ambitious work, it was created between 1973 and 1976.
