Born on May 7, 1840, in Votkinsk, Russia, Tchaikovsky began taking piano lessons at a young age. He went on to study music at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, where he was influenced by the works of Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin. After completing his studies, Tchaikovsky worked as a conductor and composer for various Russian theaters and orchestras. His early works were largely unsuccessful, but he eventually gained recognition with the premiere of 'Romeo and Juliet' in 1869.
