Biography:
Rai Magotarō is a Japanese swordsmith from the late Kamakura period. He is known for his work on the Tachi Long Sword, which is inscribed with his name and the date 1292. He is part of the Rai School, which is one of the five major schools of swordsmithing in Japan. The Rai School is known for its elegant and dignified sword designs, and Rai Magotarō's work is no exception. The Tachi Long Sword is considered a National Treasure in Japan and is housed in the Tokugawa Art Museum in Nagoya.
