Mariano Galán Ortega, also known as Palito Ortega, is an Argentine singer and actor born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 28, 1941. He is an icon of Argentine popular music and one of the main representatives of the New wave style that marked Hispanic-American music between the 1960s and 1970s. He reached international fame, particularly in Latin America and Spain, during the 1960s, when the rock en español style of rock and roll music was popularized among teenagers in the region. He is also the father of Joaquín and Lucía Galán, better known as Pimpinela, a famous Argentine duo known for singing romantic musical pieces.
