Biography:
Rötger Herfurth, also known as Rudiger Herfurth, was a German silversmith born in Frankfurt in 1722. He became a master in 1748 and died in 1776. He specialized in Judaica and is noted for producing many Kiddush Cups and Hanukah Lamps with distinctive rococo back plates and lion rampant supports. His Hanukah Lamp design, known as the 'Frankfurt type', became very popular and was replicated well into the 19th century.
