Biography:
Ryūshū Shūtaku, also known as Myōtaku, was a Japanese artist born in 1307 and died in 1388. He was active during the Nanbokuchō period (1336-1392). He was a noted scholarly Zen monk and a prominent figure in Japanese art. His works often depicted important deities of Buddhism, such as Fudō Myōō, the Immovable Wisdom King, a fearsome protector of Buddhist teachings.
