Biography:

The Sächsische Maschinenfabrik was a German engineering company based in Chemnitz, Saxony. It was one of the most important engineering companies in Saxony in the second half of the 19th century and the first two decades of the 20th century. The company was founded by August Götze and Richard Hartmann in 1837 and existed until its liquidation in 1930. During its existence, the company produced a wide range of products, including locomotives, turbines, and textile machinery. It is closely linked with the name of its founder and long-time manager, Richard Hartmann.
