Biography:
Simon François, also known as Simon François de Tours or Le petit François, was a French painter born in Tours in 1606. He studied art in Italy and became acquainted with Guido Reni in Bologna. Upon his return to France, he settled in Paris and painted the portrait of Louis XIV as Dauphin and many other distinguished personages. He painted for several churches and is said to have etched two plates of a good design and a noble expression. He died in Paris in 1671.
