Biography:
Stanislovas Bohušas-Sestšencevičius was a Lithuanian painter and graphic artist. He studied at the Imperial Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg from 1886 to 1890, later in Munich (at Józef Brandt's private school) and Paris (Académie Julian). In 1895 he settled in Vilnius and established a painting studio. After 1919 he lived in Poznan and Warsaw. He painted everyday compositions (Market 1896, Bathhouse in Vilnius 1917, Smuklės kieme 1926), portraits (Newspaper Seller 1916, Seated Woman), landscapes. His realistic, academic works have elements of impressionism. He published a drawing album Stanisław Bohusz-Siestrzeńcewicz's drawings with pen (Rysunki piórem Stanisława Bohusz-Siestrzeńcewicza 1913–1928) and the book Vilnius and aesthetics (Wilno i estetyka 1916–1919). His works are held by the Lithuanian National Art Museum, the Lithuanian National Museum, the Warsaw National Museum, and other museums in Lithuania, Poland, and other countries.
