Biography:
Tō Yōkoku was a Japanese artist born in 1760 and died in 1801. He was known for his ink painting 'Cat with Hydrangea' created in 1782/1783. He was the son of the Jimyōin-tō Emperor Go-Fukakusa and was involved in political maneuvering that led to Hirohito-shinnō being named Crown Prince and heir to his first cousin, the Daikakuji-tō Emperor Go-Uda.
