Biography:

T. G. Hawkes & Company was founded by Thomas Gibbons Hawkes in 1880 in Corning, New York. Hawkes, a native of Ireland, had worked previously as a glass cutter. The company specialized in cutting fine brilliant cut glass and tableware. T. G. Hawkes & Company remained in business for 82 years and was known for its high-quality production. The company's glassware was used in the White House from 1885 to 1959. In 1959, the company was sold to Corning Glass Works, which later became Corning Incorporated. Thomas Gibbons Hawkes died in 1913.
