Tadeusz Górecki was a Polish genre and portrait painter born in 1825 in Dusienięta (Dusinėtai) or Vilnius, Lithuania. He was the son of Antoni Gorecki, a poet and short story writer. Tadeusz Górecki was attracted to art at an early age and received lessons from his cousin, Walenty Wańkowicz. He then studied at the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts with Karl Bryullov, becoming his assistant for painting frescoes at Saint Isaac's Cathedral from 1843 to 1847.

Early Career and Training

In 1850, he became a portrait artist and embarked on an extensive trip, visiting Warsaw, Berlin, Paris, and Madrid, where he spent time copying works at the Museo del Prado.
