Biography:
Ogyū Tensen (April 28, 1882 – October 9, 1947) was a Japanese painter. He studied Japanese painting at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and became a student of Hashimoto Gahō, one of the last painters of the Kanō school. Ogyū's work was part of the painting event in the art competition at the 1932 Summer Olympics. He was born into a family of Shintō priests but decided to pursue an artistic career when he was young.
