Biography:
The Sydney Bird Painter was a contemporary of the Port Jackson Painter in Sydney in the late eighteenth century. This artist is known for their natural history paintings of birds, including the Boobook owl (c. 1790-1800) and The white gallinule (c. 1791-92). The identity of the Sydney Bird Painter is unknown, but they are believed to have been a member of the First Fleet or a contemporary of the First Fleet.
