Victor Manzano y Mejorada was a Spanish painter born in Madrid in 1831 and died in the same city in 1865. He was a painter of history and portraits, known for his realism and use of color. Manzano studied in Madrid, Rome, and Paris, where he was influenced by the works of Velázquez and Delacroix. He is known for his painting 'A scene from the Inquisition' and his portrait of the marqueses of Remisa. Manzano is considered one of the first Spanish painters to move towards realism in the mid-19th century.
