Biography:
Valentinas Vankavičius was a painter of Polish origin born on February 14, 1799, in Kałużyce near Minsk and died on May 12, 1842, in Paris. He studied at the Vilnius University from 1818 and later at the Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg from 1825. Valentinas Vankavičius is considered a representative of classicism and romanticism. His work is particularly known in Poland, Belarus, and Lithuania.
