Biography:
Ishizaki Yushi, also known as Yūshi Ishizaki, was a Japanese artist born in Nagasaki in 1768. He was a Japanese style painter who studied under his father, Genyu Araki, and his stepfather, Gentoku. He is known for his Western-style portrait of Hendrik Doeff, one of the Netherlands' most devoted pre-modern students of Japanese language and culture, which was likely painted by Ishizaki Yushi. He passed away in 1846.
