Biography:
Kayo Yamaguchi (3 October 1899 – 16 March 1984) was a Japanese painter specializing in the Nihonga style of watercolour painting. He developed his interest in portraying animals while still a child and later apprenticed himself to Goun Nishimura, learning the traditional technique of Japanese painting. Yamaguchi Kayō is known for his harmonious and coherent art style, which he forged through his delicate hand, quality palette, sense of composition, and original conception of space.
