Biography:
Yano Kyōson was a Japanese painter who was born in 愛媛県越智郡, Japan in 1890 and died in 1965. He was a painter who over the Taishō and Shōwa periods sought to achieve a new way forward for Nanga. Kyōson was active in the official state-run juried art exhibitions and was a member of the Japan Art Institute. He was also a member of the Japan Art Academy and was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Rosette in 1955. He was known for his paintings of landscapes and figures, often in a traditional Japanese style. He was also known for his paintings of flowers and birds, which were often done in a more Western style. He was a prolific artist and his works can be found in many museums and private collections around the world.
