Biography:
Wongyo, also known as Yi Gwangsa(圓嶠 李匡師), was a calligrapher of the late Joseon Dynasty. He was born in Jeonju, South Korea in 1705 and died in 1777. Wongyo learned calligraphy from Yoon-soon and achieved his own unique handwriting. His work had a profound influence on many calligraphers. He was exiled to Sinjido in 1755 due to the Naju Byeokseo Incident and died in exile after 23 years.
