Biography:

The Yoruba people are a West African ethnic group who mainly inhabit parts of Nigeria, Benin, and Togo. They constitute more than 48 million people in Africa and are over a million outside the continent. The Yoruba are one of the largest ethnic groups in Africa and the majority of them live in Nigeria, where they make up 20.7% of the country's population. Most Yoruba people speak the Yoruba language, which is the Niger-Congo language with the largest number of native or L1 speakers. The Yoruba have been living in advanced urban kingdoms for more than 1,500 years and have created a strong economy through farming, trading, and art production. Their cultural legacy is one of Africa's oldest and richest, extending for more than nine centuries. Among the most prized achievements of African art are the works of the Yoruba people.
