Biography:

Zen'en (善円) (1197–1258) was a Japanese Buddhist sculptor who was a member of the Zenpa (善派) school in Nara, Japan during the Kamakura period. He is known for his sculptures of Buddhist figures, including the Bodhisattva Kshitigarbha, also known as Jizo Bosatsu. Zen'en's work is characterized by its attention to detail and its ability to convey a sense of serenity and spirituality. He is considered one of the most important sculptors of the Kamakura period and his work continues to be celebrated and studied today.
