Biography:
Zoe Buckman is an English artist, photographer and writer. She was born in Hackney, East London, England, on September 13, 1985, to Jewish parents Jennie Buckman, an acting teacher and playwright, and Nick Blatchley, a government health official. Her uncle is Peter Buckman, an English writer and literary agent. Buckman's artwork often explores themes of feminism, identity, and cultural norms in modern society. She uses sculpture, photography, and neon in her multidisciplinary practice. Buckman's first exhibition to open since her mother's death was 'Heavy Rag', which examines the dichotomy of boxing and was inspired by Louise Bourgeois’ textile works. Her plastinated placenta art series, 'Present Life', explores the temporary nature and beauty of life.
