Drostdy Ware plate in a leaf-shape (ca. 1950s) depicting San rock painting produced by Drostdy Ware (1948-1968) a division of Grahamstown Pottery, Grahamstown in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. Drostdy wares are considered later twentieth century South African studio wares commonly described as Anglo-Oriental. Drostdy ceramics attempted to produce Bushman images invented and partly invented to mimic rock paintings and studiowares are often characterised by the extensive emphasis on rock paintings and eland images.
