A painting with augmented reality by the artist Andrea du Plessis (b.1980). The title of the work, Animanto Religiosa, is Latin for animating or breathing life into religion. The title plays on the animation of augmented reality, as well as breathing life into an old style of painting. This painting was acquired in 2022 by the University of Pretoria Museums to included in their collection and is the first AR artwork purchased. Short Biography: Andrea du Plessis was born in 1980 in Pretoria. In 2021, she won the Sasol New Signatures exhibition and held her first Solo exhibition titled Supernature: Simulacra in 2022 at the Pretoria Art Museum. Du Plessis is currently based in Cape Town, South Africa.
