From the Artist: “Whisperer” is a hand sewn cotton fabric mask worn to cover and protect the nose and mouth against cross contamination of airborne droplets and particles. Straps fitted around the forehead, along the top of the head and behind the ears hold the mask securely in place. Extra long ear straps hang down fashionably over the shoulders. Overlapping triple layers of fabric serve to prevent contamination when speaking. The pointed front allows for speech to be directed and focused toward the listener. Fresh herbs such as lavender, thyme and rosemary can be inserted inside the cone-shaped tip for aroma therapeutic benefits. The use of traditional masks gave rise to muffled speech and inaudible words forcing wearers to speak loudly and resulting in wide-spread vocal cord damage and often total loss of voice. “Whisperer” makes gentle vocal exchanges possible. Raising the voice to be heard is a thing of the past.
