The rich man and poor Lazarus. The parable of the rich man and Lazarus depicted in three scenes in an interior. In the middle the rich man at a meal, the beggar is chased away at the door. On the left the rich man dies and his soul is drawn by devils, resting on the right Lazarus in Abraham's womb in heaven. The canvas is part of a series of parables painted for the Lutheran church in Leiden (see also Nos SK-A-2958 and SK-A-2959).
