Born in the northeastern province Heilongjiang in 1967, Cang Xin became a fixture in Beijing’s East Village--an art district deriving its name from New York’s famed neighborhood—during the 90s. Beijing’s East Village was a site of growth for many of China’s most famous contemporary artists, serving as an open-minded platform for experimentation and discovery. Cang Xin displays a mutual admiration for the nude, vulnerable human body and the pristine grandeur of nature. The artist suggests that in this exposed state one is at last in harmony with Nature.
