A Napoleonic War Dutch Plateelbakkerij Delft or Pottery Bakery Delft commemorative plate is one of a set consisting of 14 plates. The pottery that made these, although they had Delft, a town in The Netherlands in their name was made in Amsterdam. Decorated in blue and red the plate commemorates the Battle of Waterloo on 18 June 1815 as well as the important role players in the battle namely Prince Willem of Orange of the Netherlands, Field marshal Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher and Arthur Wellesley the 1st Duke of Wellington. The plate was donated by Louise van Gybland Oosterhoff to the University of Pretoria in 1937.
