Portraited is depicted sitting. Lady Maria van Dommer van Poldersveldt sat at the piano on a covered chair. With her right hand she touches the keys of the open piano, her left arm rests on the seatrest. She has raised the hair with small curls on the forehead and wears a high-closed dark side dress whose décolleté and arms are unlined. The middle track of the skirt of the dress is embroidered from waist to hem. The keys of the piano, together with the lines of the embroidery, form a diagonally from the bottom left to the top right. Ms van Rijckevorsel sits twisted in her chair and turns left (for the viewer right) and stares out the image. The portraitist has a direct relationship with the painter: Mrs van Rijckevorsel was his aunt. Belongs to the pendant of her husband Augustinus Gerardus Hubertus van Rijckevorsel.
