During the excavations of the Roman city of Baelo, carried out by Pierre Paris and Jorge Bonsor, the latter drew up this plan of the interior facade of the east gate, opposite the necropolis excavated by Bonsor himself. The set of drawings on Baelo kept in the Jorge Bonsor Fonds is of particular importance, since all the documentary material produced by the archaeologists directed by Pierre Paris in Baelo was lost in the fire at the School of Hispanic Studies during the fighting in the University City of Madrid at the beginning of the Spanish Civil War. (Document on loan by commodate from the City Council of Mairena of the Alcor).
