After executing a rigorous pencil drawing, Gigante realizes the bright and luminous view of the town square of Amalfi, when the market was still held in 1856. The artist also depicts the Cathedral before its restoration in the neo-Byzantine style, before it was restored by Morelli and Vetri following the collapse of the facade’s crowning element occuring in 1861.
