The painting, a glimpse of the Ducal Park of Parma, represents a genre scene set at the Bastione dei Fiori, one of the ancient bastions of the city walls incorporated in the 18th century project by Ennemond Alexandre Petitot for the garden. The scene is animated by male and female figures in 18th century clothes while they walk, chat or rest in the shade of the trees and of the large vase by Jean Baptiste Boudard located in the center of the Bastion area, its original location.
