This intricate piece of Gold Thread Embroidered Canopy Band is used as a window or door curtain tieback during the wedding of Malay aristocrats or royalty in Perak during olden days. Many Malay communities still maintain the tradition of using gold thread embroidery (tekat) during weddings.
