Artist: Hans Aescher
Museum: Muzeul National Cotroceni (Bucharest, Romania)
Technique: Watercolor
This watercolor depicting a woman in a horse-drawn carriage is actually focusing on the horse, which is very rendered in details, opposing to the woman who is almost suggested with three color marks. On the left side, in the background (which can be the exterior of a house or a market stall), the artist drew another woman that is barely noticeable. Hans Aescher’s works are very elaborated, focusing on Romanian traditional motifs and customs, on people, on images of Bucharest’s slums and their inhabitants and on landscapes.
