On 1 March 1937 the Japanese composer and conductor Qunihico Hashimoto visited Schönberg in Los Angeles. Between 1934 and 1937, Hashimoto studied composition with Egon Wellesz in Vienna. With his letter of introduction in hand, Hashimoto visited Schönberg at his house (Brentwood Park, 116 North Rockingham Avenue) on his trip back to Japan.
