“Although we do not profess any information whatever with respect to the transformations of this insect, or its habits; and although it was given to us mutilated in many essential parts, still we cannot resist the pleasure of presenting to our readers a depiction of such a truly magnificent and uniques species of our Lepidoptera.... Captain Perry has very appropriately given to us a view of the entrance to the harbour of Port Macquarie. This town although at present neglected, contains several fine buildings.” Description from an unpublished manuscript for AW Scott, ’Australian Lepidoptera and their Transformations’ (1864-1898).
