Helmer Osslund is famous for his northern Swedish autumn landscapes. In 1910, he painted this view of the Ångermanälven river from Storberget in Nordingrå. It won a gold medal at the World’s Fair in San Francisco in 1915. Later, Osslund painted the same view again in a total of five versions, with various additions and different colours and features. Only the first version was painted on site – on eight sheets of greaseproof paper that he transferred to the canvas
