Museum: Museum of Cádiz (Cádiz, Spain)
Technique: Oil On Canvas
Zuloaga`s work is of a solid, yet Expressionist painting It has a link to the tradition of nineteenth-century costumbrista style, although it distances itself from the traditional Romantic nuance to approach the critical version of the country. The excellent oil painting of Micaela de Aramburu displays the ease which the painter has for portrait painting, a genre which he developed with great profusion and success. It is carried out with great skill in the drawing, a fluent brushstroke and a masterly handling of the palette, based on blue tones. His admiration of great masters is clear, in this case, for Goya.
