This elegant half-lenght pastel portrait was realised by the famous Swiss painter Liotard and depicts a three-quarter profile of a gentleman, who looks towards the viewer. The subject wears a simple green dress which stands out in the dark grey background and wears a powdered wig on his head. His name remains unknown as Jean Étienne Liotard, a master of pastel painting, portrayed members of the bourgeoisie in addition to the people of the courts that hosted him throughout his life
