Du fait de sa tenue vestimentaire, ce portrait signé par Joseph-Marie-Vien le fils (1762-1848), élève de son père et de F.A. Vincent, semble avoir été réalisé pendant la période révolutionnaire. Poète français, Jacques Delille, souvent appelé l’abbé Delille, était rentré à l’Académie française en 1774 et nommé à la chaire de poésie latine du collège de France.
