From the Artist: When the pandemic struck we were all at a loss. People wanted to help but didn’t know what to do. Many people took out their sewing machines and began to make masks, anywhere from 1to over 1,000. The problem with this was the conflicting information we were receiving. If masks were useless, why devote my time and materials to a hopeless enterprise. Because of this the only masks I made were for family and friends. Speaking to a neighbor who is a hospital nurse I learned that her group needed caps. I began making colorful caps. Finished ones were placed in her mailbox to be picked up when she returned home from her shift. Two or three dozen later, there was no more need.
