Fascinated by the way things grow from an earlyage, Mori has developed her own signature sculptural forms using traditional blacksmithing techniques such as forging and hammering, mastered while studying at the CamberwellCollege of Arts. She currently resides in theremote countryside of North Wales’ Llyn Peninsula, immersed in nature’s inspirational milieu. The sensitive use of steel creates a sculptural piece brimming with movement. Growing the formthrough the repetition of hammering, thousandsof steel components are assembled piece by piecein a recurring act that allows accidental nuancesto flourish. By giving her own creativity roomto breathe, the work grows almost like a mutation, transforming the cold, hard qualities of steel into something that appears more organic. An elegy to her technical virtuosity, the final object comes alive with vibrant energy.
