Date: 1650

Museum: Skokloster Castle (Skoklosters, Sweden)

Technique: Paper

When Count Carl Gustaf Wrangel commissioned Skokloster to be built he took inspiration from Italian house-design, with loggias and an open inner courtyard. The latter gives the building full advantage of the sparse daylight that Sweden offers in winter. The drawback is the cold; the open courtyard gives the outside temperature full access to the inside. On the drawing the lake-side entrance is to the left and the park entrance to the right.
