Numerous well-known Viennese artists around 1900 also designed textile patterns. The Backhausen company became famous as a result of such cooperations. One of the artists who designed for the weaving mill was Koloman Moser. He was greatly influenced by Japanese patterns, as can be seen on this decorative fabric showing birds layered on top of one another.
