Artist Kuan-Chun Huang layers acrylic and varnish to recreate objects that we see everyday using familiar colors. Then he uses sewing techniques to make the image jump out of the canvas and frame, transcending the traditional two-dimensional surface. Huang chooses to focus on everyday items and gives them subtle changes so that they become extraordinary. This transformation is intended to make us reconsider the objects that constantly surround us yet are often overlooked as a result of their continuous presence in our lives. Perhaps, we will be able to see them in a new light and find a new appreciation for our surroundings.
