This cap-sleeved gown embodies the femininity Lady Duff-Gordon’s company, Lucile, Ltd., was renowned for. Similar to the famed “Happiness” dress (in the collection of the Philadelphia Museum of Art), though without the sheer sleeves, this pink and beige gown features lace decoration with a bow motif and ruched detail. Openwork detailing with silver thread makes the lace and tulle inserts on the under-dress stand out as it peeks through the split of the over-skirt. The back of this gown features a deep V to mid-back and a series of small bows at the closure.
